31st December, nearby New Year
2 days ago, I was left by my friends.
Unohana nee-san was home to her hometown in Osaka. Inoue-san left me to her boyfriend’s house in Tokyo. She said that she’ll be celebrating it in there. The others Doctor were free. Only me and Dr. Abarai who still work because of the shift.
“Daijoubu, Aiko-cchi. I’ll bring you the souvenir from my hometown,” most of them said like that to me.
And, Inoue-san… “Good luck,”
“For what?” I wandered
“For being in couple with Dr. Abarai,”
“No~ we’re not like that,”
Tonight, there’ll be held a new year celebrates.
We finished off every business here. A lot of doctor took their years furlough. Some of them, spent it with gathered with their family. I wanted too… but, I’m still a junior here.
Now, the Hospital is so quiet and silenced. Only the addition staffs. Included me and Dr. Abarai. Tonight, there were only we both. Without more. They all had gone home.
Like this night. When everyone celebrated it, we both only stayed in our room. I felt very painfully. Uh…
“Aihara,”
“Uh, yes Doctor. You’re calling?”
“Don’t be so upset if you cannot celebrated it,” He said that while He still writing.
“No, Doctor. I just imagine the event outside there,”
He just silenced, and kept writing. While I was tide the documents up. Uh… I want to see the fireworks in the Niigata central hall. It must be beautiful. Uh, but I had to accompanied him for works. Did it so mean for me??
“Aihara?”
“Yes, Doctor?”
“If anything you want to asked, ask it to me,” said him. And once again, without looked at me.
“Um,” I confused and was thinking about the ‘present’.
“It’s okay. Maybe, as my apology that I cannot allow you go outside,”
“Star,” suddenly, I muttered.
“Star?” He repeated the word.
“No. I’m sorry. May I see the fireworks now??”
“Yeah, after I finished this report. I’ll be dead if Unohana-Senpai knew it,”
“I’ll be waiting,”
8 minutes later, I saw He was standing up from his chair.
He looked at me who still busy sorting the new documents and old documents.
“Come on, follow me,” He stepped outside.
I followed him like a puppy from behind. I followed him to ascend the stairs that brought us to this building’s roof.
“Look,” He showed me beautiful scenery,“There. There is Niigata Central Hall,”
And, I saw there was held a small fireworks exhibition.
“I’m sorry, that I cannot brought you there,”
“It’s okay. This is enough for me,”
We both stood tall close the hedge that confined this roof.
It’s like I was flying on the ground. I love this scenery.
I glanced at him. He was rather bit happy to saw those fireworks flew high brightened us. His smile, like a young boy who just first time saw the fireworks.
After the fireworks were ended, we decided to back to our station.
“Hei, Aihara,” He whispered my name.
“Um??” I looked at him shyly.
“Happy New Year,”
